South Korea Industry Minister heads to Washington after Trump announces plans for higher tariffs

South Korean Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan is traveling to Washington to discuss President Donald Trump’s plan to raise tariffs on goods to 25 percent.

South Korea's Industry Minister kim jung kwan will visit Washington on Thursday to discuss U.S. President donald trump's announcement of plans to raise tariffs on South Korean goods, according to the ministry in KRKR. The visit follows a social media post by donald trump stating he would hike tariffs from 15% to 25% because Seoul had not enacted legislation linked to a trade deal reached last year. While the announcement has created trade tension, the President told reporters on Tuesday that the USUS would work something out with South Korea, although he did not offer specific details.
