Medical products manufacturer Smith & Nephew plc, based in the United Kingdom, expects its organic trading profit to grow by approximately 8% in 2026. This forecast follows the completion of a three-year turnaround strategy that revamped the company's orthopaedic division and improved growth in its wound management and sports medicine units. For the fiscal year ended December 2025, the company reported a trading profit of $1.21 billion, a 15.5% year-on-year increase that met market expectations. Under a strategic plan announced in December, the firm intends to reduce inventory by around $500 million and simplify its portfolio to focus on high-growth areas such as sports medicine and surgical aids. While the outlook is positive, the manufacturer noted it continues to face headwinds from inventory revaluation, tariffs, and a challenging market in China. To maintain its growth trajectory, the company is focusing on revenue leverage and cost-cutting measures.
