Biogen and Denali will stop developing their Parkinson drug BIIB122 after it failed a mid-stage study. The trial of 648 patients showed no clinical benefit for symptoms.

BIOGEN INC and DENALI THERAPEUTICS INC will discontinue their Parkinson's drug BIIB122 after it failed a mid-to-late stage clinical trial. The drug failed to outperform a placebo in slowing symptom progression among 648 patients with early-stage disease. The failure removes a high-potential asset from the neurology pipeline, causing Biogen shares to fall more than 1% in late evening trading.
