The S&P 500 gained 10.29 points, or 0.15%, to reach 6,954.76 at 11:42 a.m. ET, following a week that saw the index and the Dow Jones Industrial Average punch out fresh record closes on Monday, January 13. By mid-day Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Averagerose 5.48 points, or 0.01%, to 49,447.92, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 40.78 points, or 0.17%, to 23,570.80. Small-cap stocks also showed strength, with the S&P 600 small-cap index and the Russell 2000 index both set to gain about 2% for the week.
