Stellantis will invest €900 million ($1.05B) to produce three new electric and hybrid Peugeot models at its Mulhouse plant in France. The move contributes to a broader €1 billion ($1.165B) commitment to French manufacturing recently announced by the government. This investment targets cost parity with manufacturers from China as European automakers face intensifying regional competition.
### Scaling the STLA One Platform The investment includes €400 million for the Mulhouse site and €500 million for research and development. Most R&D funds will support the STLA One platform, a new architecture designed to underpin a global range of electrified vehicles. Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa told reporters at the Mulhouse site on Tuesday that the platform will be 20% more competitive than current architectures.
