Star Sydney Fined 10 Million for Risk Failures
The New South Wales gaming regulator has fined Star Entertainment's Sydney casino 10 million Australian dollars for systemic financial crime risk failures. The operator must also set aside an additional 5 million dollars to upgrade its risk management technology as part of an enforceable undertaking. While the casino's license remains suspended, the regulator acknowledged that many breaches occurred prior to the implementation of current remediation processes.

Thousands of breaches were identified between December 2018 and September 2025. The license remains suspended, forcing the operator into a multi-year remediation program that leaves investors facing prolonged uncertainty.
