Novo Nordisk warned today of a potential 13 percent drop in 2026 sales and profit. The forecast ended a period of growth and hit the firm’s share price hard.

Novo Nordisk A/S , headquartered in Denmark DKDK, warned on Wednesday that both its adjusted operating profit and adjusted sales at constant exchange rates could fall by between 5% and 13% in 2026. This stark guidance represents a material downward revision for the pharmaceutical giant, ending a multi-year run of double-digit gains that followed the June 2021 launch of its blockbuster obesity drug, Wegovy (product). The company attributed the projected declines to lower realised prices, particularly in the United States USUS, intensifying competition in the weight-loss market, and the expiry of patents for semaglutide (active ingredient) in certain markets outside the US, such as Germany DEDE.
