FDA Approves Johnson & Johnson Blood Cancer Treatment
The FDA cleared a Johnson & Johnson combination therapy for multiple myeloma after a 55-day review. The drug reduced disease progression risk by 83% in trials.
The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved a blood cancer treatment from Johnson & Johnson following a truncated review period. This clearance represents the third instance of a drug being approved under the agency's new expedited review framework.
The regulatory body sanctioned the use of Tecvayli in combination with Darzalex for patients with multiple myeloma who have received at least one prior line of therapy. This specific combination was among 18 drugs selected for the FDA Commissioner’s National Priority Voucher Program, which facilitates a rapid review process. This program typically shortens the evaluation window to one or two months, compared to the standard 10 to 12 months. The agency confirmed that the approval was granted 55 days after the initial filing.
