Amgen lung cancer drug tarlatamab wins China approval
China approved Amgen's tarlatamab for advanced small cell lung cancer. This immunotherapy helps the immune system target and destroy cancer cells effectively.
China has granted regulatory approval to the lung cancer medication tarlatamab, according to a Friday announcement on WeChat by BEONE MEDICINES LTD-H. The drug, developed by AMGEN INC, is a targeted immunotherapy designed for adults with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer that has progressed despite chemotherapy. The therapy is currently marketed in the United States under the brand name Imdelltra. It is part of a pipeline of bispecific antibodies engineered to attach to both a cancer cell and an immune cell, bringing them together so the body's immune system can eliminate the malignancy. Following the approval by the National Medical Products Administration, neither the manufacturer nor its Hong Kong-listed partner provided immediate details regarding the launch date or pricing for the domestic market. Wall Street analysts maintain a positive outlook, with some projecting that tarlatamab could eventually generate annual sales exceeding $2 billion for the company.
