Aegon sells UK unit to Standard Life for 2 billion pounds

AEGON LTD announced on Tuesday, April 15, 2026, that it has reached a definitive agreement to sell its business operations in the United Kingdom to Standard Life for a total consideration of 2 billion pounds ($2.7 billion). The transaction is structured to include a cash payment of 750 million pounds and 181.1 million shares in Standard Life. This divestment represents a significant strategic realignment for AEGON LTD as it focuses on its core international markets. The total value of the transaction is equivalent to approximately $2.7 billion at current exchange rates of 0.7372 pounds to the dollar. The move comes as part of a broader effort by the insurer to simplify its geographic footprint and optimize capital allocation. Standard Life is expected to integrate the acquired business into its existing pension and investment platforms, further consolidating its position in the United Kingdom.
