Tanzania Nears 42 Billion Dollar LNG Deal
Tanzania expects to finalize a massive 42 billion dollar liquefied natural gas development led by Equinor and Shell in the coming months. Finance Minister Khamis Mussa Omar stated the project will help boost the nation's energy capacity and industrial growth.

Tanzania expects to finalise a $42 billion liquefied natural gas development led by EQUINOR ASA and SHELL PLC in the coming months, Finance Minister Khamis Mussa Omar said. The mega-project aims to unlock 47.13 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves. The initiative forms part of a wider strategy to establish East Africa as a primary energy hub, supported by Uganda's planned oil exports via the port of Tanga in early 2027. Officials previously targeted an agreement before June, but Omar stated the deal is almost finalized.
