South Africa has unveiled a 100 billion rand Transformation Fund proposal. Firms could pay into the fund to earn points under black economic empowerment rules.

The South African ZAZA government has announced draft amendments to its Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment policy which include the proposed creation of a 100 billion rand Transformation Fund. The Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, parks tau, announced the draft amendments as the commencement of a review of transformation policy. The proposed Transformation Fund is described as the key change to the current system, and the draft text is now open for public comment for a period of 60 days before being finalised.
