Most Americans Want Greater AI Oversight
A new Reuters and Ipsos poll shows that seventy-three percent of Americans believe artificial intelligence companies are failing to prevent societal harm. Most respondents favor federal safety standards and slowing down development.

Three out of four Americans, some 73%, worry that artificial intelligence companies have not done enough to prevent the technology from causing serious societal harm, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Monday. The four-day survey concluded on Sunday, showing negative sentiment rising from 36% last month to 39% this month. The shift comes as citizens across the United States express growing anxiety over rapid technological expansion and cybersecurity risks.
