Poland Ends Alert After Jets Scrambled Near Border
Poland lifted an airspace security alert after scrambling military jets and closing airports due to Russian strikes near its border. Officials confirmed no airspace violation occurred.
Poland scrambled military jets and closed two airports on Thursday morning after Russia launched strikes near the border of Ukraine. The defensive maneuvers ended without any airspace violations, according to military officials.
The security measures followed overnight air raids that struck western regions of Ukraine just 4 kilometers from the Polish border. Prime Minister Donald Tusk told a press conference that a petrol station near the frontier was likely hit during the barrage.
