Nigeria Nears 2000 Repatriations
Nigeria nears two thousand repatriations from South Africa after another flight brought one hundred five citizens home following xenophobic attacks. The foreign ministry confirmed the fourteenth evacuation flight since June.
Nigeria repatriated 1,926 citizens from South Africa after xenophobic violence. The latest flight carried 105 people to Lagos on Friday afternoon. The repatriation program follows targeted attacks against foreign nationals.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Oluwafemi Adeniyi said the latest group included 26 men, 29 women, and 50 children. This marked the 14th consular evacuation flight since the program launched on June 10. Additional citizens are undergoing verification and clearance in South Africa for upcoming flights.
