Japan launches historic mission to Martian moon
Japan has successfully launched an uncrewed spacecraft toward Mars to study and land on the Martian moon Phobos. The mission aims to collect physical samples and reveal the origins of the moons.

Japan launched an uncrewed spacecraft on Tuesday morning toward Phobos and Deimos to retrieve the first physical sample from a Martian moon. The MMX mission relies on scientific instruments from international partners including the United States. The findings could reveal the origin of the moons and Mars itself as space agencies eye crewed missions.
