China September Coal Imports Fall 6 Percent

China reduced its September coal imports by 6 percent from a year earlier as high domestic inventories and Indonesian supply constraints weighed on demand. Despite the yearly drop, total shipments increased slightly from August levels.

China cut September coal imports by 6% to 43.37 million metric tons, customs data showed on Wednesday. The drop follows a 42.09 million metric ton total in August. Elevated domestic inventories and tightening supplies in top exporter Indonesia drove the decline.
