Axis Bank to invest 162 million dollars in Axis Finance
Axis Bank's board approved a 162 million dollar investment into its consumer lending subsidiary Axis Finance. The move follows a decision to retain the unit.
Axis Bank Limited has announced its board's approval to infuse 15 billion rupees, approximately $162.28 million, into its consumer lending subsidiary, Axis Finance. This capital injection is intended to strengthen the financial standing of the unit as it operates within the competitive financial landscape of India.

The decision follows a strategic shift for the bank. In January, reports indicated that Axis Bank had put plans to sell a stake in Axis Finance on hold. The change in direction came after the central bank relaxed proposed restrictions on overlapping business activities between banks and their specialized subsidiaries, providing more operational flexibility for the group.
By bolstering the capital of Axis Finance, the bank aims to support its consumer lending operations. This move aligns with the current regulatory environment, which has become more accommodating toward integrated business structures within the Indian banking sector.
