India ordered more than 100 captive coal-fired power plants to run at maximum capacity from October 1 through year-end to cover surging electricity demand. The emergency directive targets facilities with an installed capacity of at least 50 megawatts. The move comes as rising temperatures drive up power consumption nationwide.
