World food prices climb in February ending five month drop

Global food prices rose in February after five months of declines as cereal and oil costs increased. The UN also raised its 2025 global cereal output forecast.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported that the price index averaged 125.3 points, a slight increase from January's revised 124.2. Despite this monthly uptick, the index remains approximately 1% lower than the same period last year and nearly 22% below the peak recorded in March 2022 following the conflict in Ukraine.
