Winter Olympics expected to accelerate Milan economic growth throughout 2026

Milan's GDP is forecast to grow by 1.7 percent this year as the Winter Olympics drive a major economic boost. The Games are acting as a key growth catalyst.

The regional business association Assolombarda released a study today forecasting that the economy of Milan, Italy ITIT, will expand by 1.7 percent in 2026. This represents a significant acceleration from the 0.7 percent growth rate projected for 2025. The study attributes this improved outlook to a combination of a rebound in the Industry sector, sustained strength in the Services sector, and the substantial economic boost expected from co-hosting the Winter Olympics.
