Wartsila CEO Expects Growth From U.S. Datacenter Push
Wartsila expects higher demand for engines as the U.S. addresses datacenter power costs. The firm plans to grow its U.S. staff and delivery capacity by 2028.
The Chief Executive Officer of Wärtsilä Oyj Abp expects a significant increase in demand for the company's environmentally friendly power solutions as data centers in the United States move toward self-generation. This trend is projected to support a double-digit percentage increase in the hiring of service staff over the next two years.
The White House is scheduled to meet with major technology companies, including Microsoft Corporation, Amazon.com, Inc., and Meta Platforms, Inc., on March 4 to develop a strategy for protecting consumers from rising power costs linked to AI-driven data center demand. This issue has become a focal point ahead of upcoming elections, alongside concerns regarding water usage and pollution.
