Vertical Aerospace secures $850 million financing package
Vertical Aerospace secured funding from Mudrick Capital Management and Yorkville Advisors Global. The capital supports flight testing for its Valo aircraft.
Vertical Aerospace Ltd., an electric aviation company headquartered in the United Kingdom, has secured a financing package of up to $850 million to fund its path toward commercialization. The announcement led to a rise of over 4% in the company’s shares during morning trading in the United States.
The company successfully raised $50 million in equity capital on Monday and anticipates an additional $30 million in the near term. This funding is expected to bring the firm’s working capital to approximately $160 million, which is intended to sustain its operational requirements through 2026. The broader financing structure provides access to $800 million in capital through 2027 and beyond, supporting flight testing, certification efforts, and the initial production of the Valo aircraft.
To secure the package, the manufacturer partnered with investment firms Mudrick Capital Management and Yorkville Advisors Global. Mudrick Capital is extending and increasing its existing convertible debt, while Yorkville Advisors Global is offering approximately $250 million in convertible preferred shares. This financial boost occurs as air taxi startups globally invest heavily to navigate strict regulatory frameworks and commercialize sustainable urban transportation solutions.
