US judge will soon rule on emergency request to unfreeze Hudson Tunnel project funding

A federal judge is set to rule on an emergency request to restore funding for the $16 billion rail project. Work may stop today due to a standoff with Trump.

U.S. District Judge jeannette vargas announced on Friday that she will issue a written ruling shortly regarding an emergency request by the states of New York and New Jersey to lift a four-month freeze on federal funding for the $16 billion Hudson Tunnel Project. This decision will determine whether construction work on the massive infrastructure project is suspended, a move that could disrupt a critical commuter rail route serving more than 200,000 daily travelers and 425 trains in the USUS. The ruling is expected to address the immediate future of a project that is structurally important to a metropolitan area producing approximately 10% of the economic output of the USUS.
