The United States launched a four-day hearing on Tuesday to determine if excess factory capacity in 16 trading partners warrants higher tariffs. The Section 301 investigation targets major economies including China and the European Union. New duties would provide the Trump administration fresh trade leverage before a temporary 10% global tariff expires in July.
