Dollar Drops to Lowest Since February as Iran Reopens Strait
The US dollar fell today after Iran announced the Strait of Hormuz is open to commercial vessels. The currency is on track for its second weekly decline.
The United States dollar retreated on Friday, heading toward its second consecutive weekly decline. This downward movement followed an announcement from Iran that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial shipping, a development that has increased optimism regarding a potential resolution to regional conflicts. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi confirmed that the waterway would remain accessible during a 10-day truce involving Israel and Lebanon.
Shortly after the statement, U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged the news, noting the waterway's readiness for passage. Analysts, however, remain cautious about the long-term implications.
