US Judge Urges Faster 10 Billion Dollar Tariff Refunds
Judge Richard Eaton of the Court of International Trade has called for the government to expedite the return of illegal tariff revenue. The judge noted that current delays are creating an inequity between large importers and smaller businesses while the administration appeals a refund order.
Judge Richard Eaton urged the United States to expedite more than $10 billion in tariff refunds following a Supreme Court ruling. The revenue stems from $166 billion in tariffs previously deemed illegal by the high court. Delays in processing claims have led to a growing inequity between large importers and smaller businesses.
