Economic indicators in the United States presented a complex picture this Tuesday as consumer confidence saw an unexpected marginal increase while the labor market experienced a significant cooling. According to the Conference Board, the consumer confidence index rose to 91.8 in March, surpassing economist expectations of 88.0. However, this optimism was tempered by a sharp drop in job openings and hiring, which fell to levels not seen since the early stages of the pandemic.
