US and China Economic Chiefs Open Paris Trade Talks
US and Chinese officials meet in Paris to review trade progress and energy security. The talks prepare for a presidential summit in Beijing later this month.
Economic leaders from the United States and China are scheduled to begin a new round of negotiations in Paris this Sunday. The primary objective of these discussions is to resolve outstanding trade issues and facilitate a productive meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, slated for late March in Beijing. Led by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, the talks will focus on shifting tariffs, the flow of Chinese-produced rare earth minerals, American high-tech export controls, and Chinese purchases of U.S. agricultural products.
