UniCredit confirms no plans to exit Russian operations
Italian lender UniCredit announced on Friday that it has no intention of liquidating its Russian business. The bank will also retain its local banking license.
The major financial institution UniCredit has officially stated that it has no current plans to liquidate its business operations within Russia. Headquartered in Italy, the bank clarified on Friday that it will not be returning the banking license held by its local subsidiary, maintaining its presence despite the ongoing geopolitical climate.

This stance comes as the lender continues to navigate the complexities arising from the conflict in Ukraine. While many international firms have reconsidered their footprint in the region, UniCredit has opted to hold onto its local assets for the time being. The bank's decision reflects its current strategy regarding its international subsidiaries amidst a challenging regulatory and political environment.
