Ukraine expects first EU loan tranche in April despite veto
Zelenskiy expects the first tranche of a 90 billion euro EU loan in April. EU leaders seek ways to bypass Hungary's veto to support Kyiv's financial stability.
Ukraine remains confident that the first installment of a 90-billion euro ($103.89 billion) European Union loan will arrive next month, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. The statement follows a high-level summit where leaders failed to persuade Hungary to lift its veto on the critical financial package.
The funding is essential for Kyiv as it continues to defend its territory against Russia in a conflict that has now entered its fifth year. Despite the diplomatic impasse involving Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has linked the funding to disputes over oil transit, Zelenskiy expressed optimism following discussions with EU officials.
