UK restarts Teesside CO2 plant with 100 million pounds
UK will provide 100 million pounds to restart a Teesside CO2 plant for three months. The move aims to secure vital supplies for the food and healthcare sectors.
The United Kingdom has announced a £100 million ($133.5 million) support package to restart biogenic carbon dioxide production at a facility in Teesside. This three-month intervention aims to secure domestic supplies against volatility caused by the war in Iran, which has impacted global energy markets and shipping.
The Ensus plant, located at the Wilton International site, had suspended operations in September. The facility struggled to remain competitive after a trade agreement with the United States reduced tariffs on bioethanol imports, allowing lower-cost American supplies to enter the market.
