Uganda January export revenue rises 77 percent on gold

Uganda recorded a 77.6% surge in merchandise export earnings in January compared to the previous year, driven by strong performance in the gold and coffee sectors. The nation's finance ministry reported that export revenues reached $1.5 billion for the month, up from $844.6 million in January 2025. This growth was attributed to increased shipments of gold, coffee, industrial products, beans, and electricity.
As the largest coffee exporter in Africa, the country continues to capitalize on high global commodity prices and rising export volumes, trends that influence the broader market including entities like Coffee Holding Co., Inc.. Additionally, the country has transformed into a significant regional center for gold processing.
