United States President Donald Trump said China may release Pastor Jin Mingri but remains unlikely to free jailed tycoon Jimmy Lai. The comments followed high-level discussions between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping during a diplomatic visit ending May 15. For investors, the disparate treatment of these high-profile detainees signals the specific boundaries of Beijing's current political tolerance.
