Toyota Motor Corporation reported a decline in global production for the fourth consecutive month in February, primarily driven by a manufacturing transition for one of its most popular models. The automaker's global vehicle output shrank by 3.9% compared to the previous year, totaling 749,673 vehicles. While the company indicated that overall consumer demand remains strong, the temporary halt to switch production from the older RAV4 sport utility vehicle to the newest iteration impacted overall numbers. The production shift was most evident in Canada, where output saw a significant drop of 46.2%. Other regional declines included an 11.5% decrease in China, a 2.6% dip in Japan, and a 20.4% reduction in the Middle East. However, some regions bucked the trend, with production rising by 3.4% in the United States and 3.9% in Europe. On the sales front, global deliveries fell by 3.3% to 737,134 vehicles. Overseas sales were down 2.2%, largely due to a 13.9% slide in China and an 8.3% decrease in Japan. In contrast, sales in the United States grew by 3.2%. These comprehensive figures include performance data for the luxury Lexus brand. Despite the recent production headwinds, Toyota concluded 2025 as the world's top-selling automaker for the sixth consecutive year.
