The toy manufacturing giant Hasbro, Inc. has joined hundreds of other corporations in filing a lawsuit against the United States government to recover tariff payments. The legal action seeks refunds for duties paid under emergency trade measures that were recently deemed illegal by the U.S. Supreme Court. Hasbro, known for brands such as Play-Doh, is requesting a full return of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariffs along with interest. This lawsuit is part of a broader legal movement, with over 2,000 similar cases filed in the U.S. Court of International Trade since April. Other major international firms have also sought similar relief this week, including the beauty group L'Oreal from France and the vacuum manufacturer Dyson from the United Kingdom. Contact lens producer Bausch + Lomb and Beanie Babies manufacturer Ty Inc. have also initiated legal proceedings against U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Hasbro is currently represented by the law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg. The firm is also acting on behalf of the Swiss sportswear company On Holding AG, based in Switzerland, and the personal care product manufacturer Conair in their respective legal challenges. Hasbro has not yet issued a formal comment regarding the litigation.
