Thai Central Bank Unexpectedly Lowers Interest Rates to Support Growth Amid Tariff Risks

The Bank of Thailand cut its policy rate to one percent today to support growth. The move addresses risks from a strong currency and global tariff uncertainty.

The Bank of Thailand THTH monetary policy committee voted 4-2 on Wednesday to cut the one-day repurchase rate by 25 basis points to 1.00 percent. This decision, made during the first policy review of the year by the Bank of Thailand (BOT), was taken to provide further support to the economy as it faces mounting pressure from uncertainty regarding tariffs from the United States USUS and a persistently strong baht.
