Tesla receives approval to supply electricity in Britain
British regulator Ofgem has granted Tesla Energy Ventures a licence to supply power to households and businesses. The authorisation became effective yesterday.
Tesla, Inc. has officially received regulatory approval to supply electricity across the United Kingdom, marking a significant expansion of its energy division. The British energy regulator, Ofgem, confirmed on Thursday that it has granted an electricity supply license to Tesla Energy Ventures Limited, a subsidiary of the global clean energy firm. The new authorization became effective on Wednesday following a rigorous assessment process that spanned several months. With this license, the company is now permitted to provide electrical power to both residential households and commercial businesses throughout Britain. Ofgem noted that the scope of this license is specifically for electricity supply activities. It is separate from the existing generation license held by Tesla Motors Limited. This development allows the company to integrate its battery technology and renewable energy solutions more deeply into the British power grid.
