Tesco warns Middle East conflict impacts profit outlook
Tesco forecasts 2026 profits between 3.0 and 3.3 billion pounds. The retailer cited Middle East conflict uncertainty for providing a wider guidance range.
Tesco, the leading food retailer in the United Kingdom, has announced that heightened geopolitical uncertainty stemming from the conflict in the Middle East involving Iran is impacting its financial projections. On Thursday, the supermarket giant stated that the ongoing instability has led the company to provide a broader range of forward guidance for the upcoming fiscal year than originally intended.

For the 2026/27 financial year, the retailer forecasts an adjusted operating profit ranging between 3.0 billion pounds and 3.3 billion pounds ($4.07 billion to $4.48 billion). This projection compares to the 3.152 billion pounds in adjusted operating profit reported for the 2025/26 period. The wider guidance reflects the difficulty in predicting market conditions as the regional conflict continues to influence global economic stability.
