Swiss Re estimates insured losses from natural catastrophes will hit 148 billion dollars this year. This follows a lower total of 107 billion dollars in 2025.

Insured losses stemming from natural catastrophes are projected to reach approximately $148 billion in 2026, according to the latest estimates released by the global reinsurer Swiss Re. The firm, which is based in Switzerland, cautioned that under a more severe scenario, these losses could escalate significantly, potentially reaching as high as $320 billion.
