The move is designed to avoid plant closures as the European chip giant faces increasing global competition and operational challenges. Speaking at a semiconductor conference in Poland hosted by the industry group SEMI, Thomas Morgenstern, the company's head of manufacturing, demonstrated the technology by showing a robot successfully handling silicon wafer carriers.
