Stellantis posts 20.1 billion euro loss for H2 2025
The automaker reported a 20.1 billion euro net loss for the second half of 2025. These writedowns followed a shift in EV strategy and previous cost-cutting.
The automotive manufacturer Stellantis N.V. reported a net loss of 20.1 billion euros for the second half of 2025. This result follows the company's disclosure earlier this month regarding 22.2 billion euros in charges linked to a reduction in its electric vehicle production goals. Adjusted operating income for the period was negative 1.38 billion euros, or approximately $1.63 billion, which fell within the preliminary range previously estimated by the firm.

The manufacturer of Jeep and Peugeot vehicles saw net revenues for the July-to-December period rise by 10% year-on-year. However, the overall 2025 results were heavily impacted by 25.4 billion euros in total writedowns. Chief Executive Antonio Filosa stated that these results reflect the financial impact of over-estimating the speed of the global energy transition. Filosa also attributed some of the writedowns to vehicle quality issues resulting from cost-cutting measures under former chief executive Carlos Tavares. These charges include 6.5 billion euros in cash payments expected to be distributed over four years starting in 2026.
Stellantis has reiterated its financial guidance for 2026, which includes a mid-single-digit percentage increase in net revenues and a low-single-digit adjusted operating margin. Industrial free cash flows are projected to return to positive levels only in 2027. Additionally, the company confirmed that it will not be issuing a dividend to shareholders for the current year.
