Spain Industrial Prices Rise 3.4 Percent in March
Spanish industrial prices rose at their fastest annual rate in a year this March following a sharp spike in energy costs. The 3.4 percent increase ended a four-month period of declines as petrol refining prices jumped significantly.
Industrial producer prices in Spain experienced a significant rebound in March, marking the fastest rate of growth in a year. According to data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE), the surge follows four consecutive months of decline, primarily driven by a sharp escalation in energy costs.
Over the 12-month period ending in March, industrial prices rose by 3.4%. This represents a dramatic shift from the revised 6.9% decrease recorded in February. The industrial price index is widely regarded as a leading indicator for consumer inflation, as manufacturers often pass on increased production costs to retail customers.
