South Sudan declined to renew the Block B3 exploration license for Nigeria-based Oranto Petroleum after a six-year contract review. The Ministry of Petroleum cited Oranto's failure to complete required seismic surveys and drilling commitments during the agreement period. Oil is one of South Sudan's main sources of revenue, making the development of stagnant blocks a fiscal priority.
