Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana of South Africa has emphasized that achieving fiscal targets is insufficient on its own to attract significant investment, highlighting the urgent need for accelerated economic growth. Speaking shortly after the release of the annual budget, Godongwana noted that while the country is heading toward its third consecutive primary budget surplus—where tax revenue exceeds non-interest spending—numerical milestones are only part of the solution. National debt is also expected to peak this year.
