The ongoing conflict in the Middle East poses a severe threat to Asian economies, potentially triggering a regional crisis, according to a warning issued by Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan. The minister highlighted the region's extreme exposure to disruptions in energy supplies, particularly as the war involving Iran enters a critical phase.
"Right now the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is, in a sense, an Asian crisis."
