SentinelOne Forecasts Quarterly Profit Below Estimates
SentinelOne expects quarterly profit below estimates amid intense competition. Shares fell over 2% after-hours despite a 20% rise in fourth-quarter revenue.
Cybersecurity firm SentinelOne, Inc. issued a quarterly profit forecast on Thursday that fell short of market expectations, pointing to a cautious outlook amid a leadership transition and intense industry rivalry. Following the announcement, shares of the company, which operates out of the United States, dropped by more than 2% in extended trading. The firm is currently contending with a highly competitive landscape dominated by larger entities such as CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. and Palo Alto Networks, Inc., while Microsoft Corporation continues to expand its footprint by bundling security tools into its enterprise software. The cybersecurity sector has also been pressured by the rise of generative artificial intelligence, which has sparked concerns regarding the potential commoditization of core security functions. In response, SentinelOne has highlighted its Singularity platform, an AI-powered system designed to provide autonomous protection across cloud workloads and data centers. The company is also leveraging Purple AI to assist security teams in accelerating threat detection and response. Beyond competition, a tightening macroeconomic environment has led to more scrutinized corporate IT spending, which may impact near-term growth. Analysts noted that the company provided a conservative outlook as incoming Chief Financial Officer Sonalee Parekh settles into her role. For the fiscal first quarter, the company expects adjusted profit per share to range between 1 cent and 2 cents, missing the 5-cent average estimate from analysts. Revenue is projected to reach between $276 million and $278 million. For the fourth quarter ended January 31, the company reported a 20% increase in revenue to $271.2 million, aligning with estimates, while adjusted profit of 7 cents per share beat the anticipated 6 cents.
