Senegal remains committed to IMF talks while defending national interests

Senegal is negotiating a new IMF program while ensuring any agreement serves its people. Officials confirmed the nation will meet its debt obligations.

Senegal SNSN is currently engaged in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to establish a replacement programme following the suspension of its previous financial arrangement. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) took the step to freeze an IMF $1.8 billion lending programme after the current government discovered billions of dollars in borrowing that had been misreported by the previous administration. These ongoing talks are expected to determine the country’s access to external financing and its capacity to meet its upcoming financial obligations.
