Senator Warner questions 10 billion dollar TikTok payment
Senator Mark Warner asked the White House to confirm a 10 billion dollar payment from TikTok investors. Reports say 2.5 billion has already been transferred.
The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee has requested clarification from the White House regarding whether investors are set to pay $10 billion to the Treasury as part of a deal involving TikTok’s operations in the United States. Senator Mark Warner cited reports indicating that a significant portion of this sum has already been transferred to the federal government.
According to a Wall Street Journal report referenced by the Senator, investors in the new TikTok joint venture—which includes Oracle Corporation, Silver Lake, and Abu Dhabi’s MGX—have already paid $2.5 billion to the Treasury. The remaining $7.5 billion is reportedly scheduled to be paid in subsequent installments.
