The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reported a significant decline in enforcement activity for the latest fiscal year, marking a strategic shift in how the regulator approaches market oversight. According to an annual report released on Tuesday, the agency initiated 456 enforcement actions during the fiscal year ending in September, representing a drop of more than 20% compared to the 583 actions recorded the previous year. Data showed that nearly half of those actions were brought before the current administration took office in January 2025.
